Mail Art with M P Landis
MP Landis and I began creating and exchanging mail art pieces in 2008 when I was an Artist in Residence at the Glenfiddich Distillery in Dufftown, Scotland. We have since created over 100 works. 2010 Mail Collaborations represented the first collection in the ongoing series to be presented as a whole, rather than individually. The set of eleven collaborations, completed over the course of 2010, is housed in a hand-made wooden box that also was passed through the US postal system. Each piece is mailed at least four times with each artist adding to the piece at least twice. Our 2013 series consisted of 8 works, two for each season. In this case some of the works had been mailed back and forth over 40 times. Over the course of 7 years works have been sent between Queens, NY, Brooklyn, NY, New York, NY, Branford, CT, Greenwich, CT, Cape Cod, MA, Cornwall, VT, Lancaster, PA, Washington, D.C., Dufftown, Scotland and Rome, Italy.
